Fireworks on the Fourth (updated 7/2/2017)

Where can I shoot fireworks?

In Fall River County outside of city limits fireworks are permitted south of the Cheyenne River IF the fire danger for the grasslands is LOW or MODERATE.  Fire Danger ratings can be found on the county website (look at the information column on the right side of the webpage).

Inside Hot Springs:

WHEN: Fireworks are only permitted when the Fire Danger Index provided by the national weather service lists Hot Springs as LOW or MODERATE. Firework are allowed on the 3rd and 4th from 8:00pm until 11:00pm.  Please be aware that the 4th does fall in the middle of the work week this year and some people will be sleeping in preparation for the next day.

WHERE: Fireworks must be launched from private property (NOT streets or alleys or public parks).

WHAT: The City of Hot Springs only allows firecrackers that are non-traveling and less than 50mg per firecracker, sparklers, non-traveling smoke devices, fountains with the discharge not to exceed 6′, ground spinners, and non-traveling ground fireworks.

Inside Edgemont:

WHEN: Fireworks are permitted with the fire danger is LOW or MODERATE. From July 1st through the 5th, 9AM to 10PM (until midnight on the 4th).

WHERE: Fireworks are NOT allowed within the Edgemont City Park without prior approval of the Edgemont Common Council.  Fireworks are NOT allowed on any property marked as No Trespassing or with signs prohibiting the discharge of fireworks. All fireworks discharge must be cleaned up and properly disposed of within 24 hours.

WHAT: Any firework legal in the State of South Dakota. Fireworks may not be discharged carelessly, recklessly or heedlessly in regard to the rights and safety of others or in any manner likely to endanger any person or property.
