Administrative Assistant: Fall River 4-H/Extension

The Fall River 4-H/Extension Office is now accepting applications for a full-time administrative assistant. Applicants must be able to mutli-task, have excellent customer service, organizational, computer and written/verbal communications skills. Starting salary is $12.00-$14.00 (DOE). Work day is from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Position has full benefits: health insurance, SD retirement, annual & sick leave. Administrative Assistant: Fall River Community Health Service

Purpose: Provides clerical/secretarial support which includes tasks such as composing and finalizing correspondence, establishing and maintaining filing systems, creating and maintaining databases, gathering and providing information, and recording fiscal activities to support office operations.

Functions: Composes and finalizes letters, narratives, memos, reports, and forms to produce accurate documents.  Records, transcribes, and distributes formal minutes of meetings to provide detailed records of proceedings and decision-making.  Responds to requests or questions regarding routine program operations to disseminate information and provide assistance to clients and the public.  Makes travel arrangements or schedules appointments to ensure necessary arrangements are made.  Establishes and maintains computerized and manual filing systems by determining file-naming and organizational methods for data files; and following standard filing procedures for correspondence, forms, and other documents to ensure accurate storage and retrieval capabilities.  Reviews documents, forms, data, and files to ensure accuracy and completeness.  Maintains records of fiscal activities to track expenditure of allocated funds, and incoming fees and other daily revenues.  Performs other work as assigned.

Daily contact with the public to instruct them on completing forms and documents; provide information on the status of actions or requests; and explain processes, forms, requirements, charges, fees, schedules, etc.; with other agencies and resources to describe problems or needs; and with other work units to clarify data and correct factual errors in documents or transactions, and explain why a specific action was taken.

Starting wage: $12.00 – $14.00 depending on experience. Included benefit package: paid health, vision and dental insurance, vacation, sick and personal leave and South Dakota Retirement.

Assistant Emergency Manager (Part-time): The Fall River County Emergency Manager is accepting applications for an assistant. Duties will include writing reports, data gathering, resource tracking, answering phones, attending meetings, taking and processing minutes, attending training on subjects pertaining to emergency management.  Should have a good working knowledge of computers, Microsoft word, excel, and publisher, ability to work with individuals under stress or irritation. Ability to work in all kinds of weather and under varying, sometimes dangerous, conditions. Must have a valid South Dakota Driver’s license. $14/hour starting wage. Open until filled. Deputy Sheriff: The Fall River County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for a county deputy. Candidates must be able to think and act quickly under pressure; remain calm in stressful situations; demonstrate ethical behavior; pass a background and drug test; be physically able to perform job functions.

Starting wage is $16.50-$20.50/hour DOE. 911 Dispatcher: Fall River County Sheriffs Office is accepting applications for full-time 911 Dispatchers. The starting wage: $16.00/hour. Shifts are day, evening, and overnight, and include weekends and holidays. Benefits include paid health, vision and dental insurance; vacation, sick and personal leave and South Dakota State Retirement.

The position involves substantial public contact, receiving incoming radio and phone calls, and entering information into the computer-aided dispatch system.  Individuals must be able to multi-task with accurate typing (35 words per minute) and computer skills. This facility handles multiple calls from different agencies which will need to be dispatched out simultaneously. Applicants must be able to remain calm and maintain composure and treat people with respect even under pressure in stressful situations. Individuals must possess the ability to consistently think clearly; act quickly; and calmly in a wide variety of situations.

The position requires SD State Certification for radio dispatching. The training, completed in Pierre, SD will be provided to successful applicants.  Position requires a medical physical (UA and hearing test), fingerprinting and background check.
