Assistant to Maintenance Supervisor: Fall River County is looking for full-time maintenance/custodians.  Duties may include, but are not limited to:  locking and unlocking assigned buildings and windows, using chemicals and supplies properly, perform cleaning and related activities, snow removal or debris or other custodial duties, like cleaning bathrooms, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming as needed, moving and cleaning furniture, equipment, supplies and tools as needed, attending to emergencies when necessary, replace light bulbs, empty wastebaskets, trash containers, cigarette urns and ash trays.

Must be able to use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools, buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and other tools and equipment as needed, as well as safely operate all vehicles.  Other duties/skills may include attending safety and other related meetings, attention to detail, following directions, calculating and math skills, organizing and interpersonal skills.  Assisting with setup of facilities for meetings is also required.  Classes in cleaning and maintenance, CPR and first aid are helpful.

Other duties may include: tracking the fire sprinkler system and inventory, testing boiler water daily and keeping jail supplies stocked, using ladders when require in work assignments, washing walls and windows, launder cleaning rags and dust mops, clean blinds, refill restroom dispenser and strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors.  Ability to follow direction, support and enforce policies and to lift 50 pounds.

IT support/computer experience beneficial.  Wage dependent upon experience, minimum experience high school diploma.  Starting wage: $13.00-$15.00 DOE, full benefits including: vacation & sick leave, SD retirement; paid health,vision & dental insurance. Open until filled.

911 Dispatcher: Fall River County Sheriffs Office is accepting applications for a full time 911 Dispatchers. The starting wage: $14.00/hour. Shifts are day, evening and overnight, and include weekends and holidays. Benefits include paid health, vision and dental insurance; vacation, sick and personal leave and South Dakota State Retirement.

The position involves substantial public contact, receiving incoming radio and phone calls, and entering information into the computer aided dispatch system.  Individuals must be able to multi task with accurate typing (35 words per minute) and computer skills. This facility handles multiple calls from different agencies which will need dispatched out simultaneously. Applicant must be able to remain calm and maintain composure and treat people with respect even under pressure in stressful situations. Individual must possess the ability to consistently think clearly; act quickly; and calmly in a wide variety of situations.

The position requires SD State Certification for radio dispatching. Jailer/Correctional Officer: The Fall River County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for correctional officers. Ideal applicants are those with good moral character, in good physical condition and who are interested in serving their community as a member of the Fall River County Sheriff’s Office Team.  Correctional officers, upon hire, undergo on-going training courses along with on-the-job training to prepare them to supervise inmates.
