Extension Service

Services:
The Fall River County Extension Office serves the communities and citizens of Fall River County providing education and information on a variety of subjects.  Our in-office personnel have specialties in family and consumer sciences and range management.  Fall River County can use the resources of the South Dakota Cooperative Extension Office and West 1 Field Education Unit, which can help us provide expertise in areas such as 4-H/youth development, horticulture, livestock, marketing/farm business management, agronomy (dry land & irrigation), and community innovation/leadership.  Master Gardeners provide horticulture support and Senior Health Information & Insurance Education (SHIINE) trained volunteers provide support to Medicare beneficiaries and their families.  The Fall River County 4-H youth program is coordinated through the Extension Office.

Mission:
For Agriculture, Family, 4-H/Youth Development needs and issues…..Extension is the major education outreach arm of South Dakota State University, serving the people of South Dakota by helping them apply unbiased, scientific knowledge to improve their lives.  Continuing partnerships with county, state, and federal governments are made possible by the land-grant mandate that empowers Extension to offer educational information, programs, and services in response to local issues and needs.
