Administrative Assistant: The Fall River County Treasurer’s office is accepting application for a full time Administrative Assistant for our fast-paced office. Building Maintenance Supervisor: Fall River County is hiring for a full time Building Maintenance Supervisor. Salary will be based on experience, plus benefits. Maintains Fall River County owned buildings. Skills required will be a basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, boiler, cleaning, snow removal, security and on-site computer maintenance. Also, use of power tools, county truck and trailers; contact and oversee Contractors; maintain a balanced budget and report to Commissioners. IT experience would be a plus. Emergency Management and Weed/Pest Assistant (Full-time): 

The Fall River County Emergency Management and the Weed and Pest Departments are accepting applications for a combined Administrative Assistant.  Duties include assisting the public on the phone and in person, data entry, correspondence and mailings, filing, and other duties as assigned.   Additionally may be called upon to assist with Emergency Operations Center, deployment to the scene, resource ordering, tracking and coordinating with assisting agencies.  May be exposed to fire, smoke, toxic and hazardous materials that could pose a significant risk to health. Must be able to apply herbicides/pesticide and operate mosquito surveillance equipment, ATV-UTV vehicles, Pick-ups and trailers.

Starting wage is $11-$13/hour depending on experience. Benefits include contributions to SD Retirement, paid leave, health and dental insurance.

Qualifications:  Working knowledge of Microsoft computer applications including Word and Excel, good organizational skills, effective written and verbal communication, attention to detail, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, agencies and the public, ability to read maps and legal descriptions, ability to work independently, positive attitude and desire to learn. Physically must be able to lift 50+ lbs and walk 4-5 miles over uneven terrain.   Work assignments may be in all kinds of weather under varying conditions.

Must possess the ability to learn all requirements of the EMP and related fields that ensure the safety of residents and protection of property. Must obtain a Commercial Pesticide Applicator License with right-of-way and rodent control endorsement.

Education: High school diploma or GED certificate.
Must possess a valid South Dakota Drivers license

911 Dispatcher: Fall River County Sheriffs Office is accepting applications for a full time 911 Dispatchers. The starting wage: $14.00/hour. Shifts are day, evening and overnight, and include weekends and holidays. Benefits include paid health, vision and dental insurance; vacation, sick and personal leave and South Dakota State Retirement.

The position involves substantial public contact, receiving incoming radio and phone calls, and entering information into the computer aided dispatch system.  Individuals must be able to multi task with accurate typing (35 words per minute) and computer skills. This facility handles multiple calls from different agencies which will need dispatched out simultaneously. Applicant must be able to remain calm and maintain composure and treat people with respect even under pressure in stressful situations. Individual must possess the ability to consistently think clearly; act quickly; and calmly in a wide variety of situations.

The position requires SD State Certification for radio dispatching. The training, completed in Pierre, SD will be provided to successful applicants.  Position requires a medical physical (UA and hearing test), fingerprinting and background check. Jailer/Correctional Officer: The Fall River County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for correctional officers. Ideal applicants are those with good moral character, in good physical condition and who are interested in serving their community as a member of the Fall River County Sheriff’s Office Team.  Correctional officers, upon hire, undergo on-going training courses along with on-the-job training to prepare them to supervise inmates.

Starting wage: $14.50/hour. Shifts are day, evening and overnight, and include weekends and holidays. Benefits include paid health, vision and dental insurance; vacation, sick and personal leave and South Dakota State Retirement.  Applicant must be at least 18 year of age with high school diploma or GED.  Must have a valid SD drivers license and have no felony convictions.
