Fires – June 29th

There have been four fire so far today in Fall River County.

The Mickelson Trail Fire northeast of the Chilson Bridge has been put out. This fire was less than an acre.

The Cedar Fire is burning north of the Wild Horse Sanctuary, crews are on scene.

The Rocky Fire is located a mile south of Highway 18 in Minnekahta Valley, crews are on scene.

There is a new fire between Indian Canyon Rd and Rocky Ford Rd, located on the north side of the Cheyenne River. Crews are on scene, some residence in the Indian Canyon Fire area are being told to prepare for possible evacuation.

UPDATE (6/30/2017 8:40am):  The Cedar and Rocky Fires have been contained.  The fire off Indian Canyon Rd has been named the Brady Fire and is now estimated at 95 acres, there are federal, state, and local crews on scene.

Chilson Bridge Closure

The Chilson Bridge which carries traffic over the Mickelson Trail on Old Highway 18 has been closed by the county commissioners for safety reasons.  Addresses on Old Highway 18 that are lower than 27900 can be accessed from the Hot Springs side, Old Highway 18 addresses greater than 27900 and Rocky Ford Rd and Paradise Rd are accessible from the Edgemont side.

Courthouse Closed – Independence Day

The Fall River County Courthouse will be closed, Tuesday, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day. Regular hours will resume Wednesday, July 5th.

First Half of Taxes Due – April 28th

The first half of property taxes are due each year on April 30th.  This year April 30th falls on a Sunday making Friday, April 28th the last day you can pay your taxes in person and Saturday April 29th the last day to mail your payment.  Don’t let this date sneak up on you!

Good Friday – Courthouse Open

The Fall River County Courthouse will be open on Friday, April 14th.  However, State Offices will be closed for Good Friday, which may impact services county offices provide to customers.  Services offered by the Treasurer’s office and the Register of Deeds are most likely to be impacted.
