Ag Producers Meeting

Fall River County will be hosting a meeting for Ag Producers on Wednesday, Jun 9th, from 4-6pm at the Mueller Civic Center in Hot Springs.  The meeting will cover topics related to Agricultural Land assessment such as:

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

ORDINANCE #2021-01

A TEMPORARY ORDINANCE REGARDING THE ISSUANCE OF LOCAL MEDICAL CANNABIS ESTABLISHMENT PERMITS AND/OR LICENSES

 

The Board of Fall River County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on June 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., Second Floor Courtroom, in the Fall River County Courthouse located in Hot Springs, SD.  All interested persons are encouraged to attend in person and comment on Ordinance #2021-01, A temporary ordinance regarding the issuance of local medical cannabis establishment permits and/or licenses. After the public hearing, the Board of County Commissioners may have a first reading of Ordinance #2021-01 by title and set a 2nd reading date.

The proposed Ordinance #2021-01 will be made available for public inspection at the Fall River County Auditor’s Office located in Hot Springs, SD and on-line at http://fallriver.sdcounties.org/ pursuant to SDCL Section 11-4 and amendments thereto.

Written comments may be filed by emailing the Auditor at [email protected] or by mailing them to the Auditor at 906 N. River St., Hot Springs, SD  57747 on or before noon on June 16, 2021.

Tornado Warning Systems to be Tested April 27th

The Tornado sirens in Hot Springs, Edgemont, Oelrichs and at Angostura Reservoir will be tested between 9:00 and 10:00 am MDT Wednesday, April 27th.  Because the exercise is used to ensure warning systems are functioning properly before storm season, people will hear the actual siren used for tornadoes.

The sirens may not be heard inside homes and office buildings, as they are intended to alert people who are outdoors away from radio or TV.

Local emergency response agencies may practice their response procedures and many schools will conduct safety drills for their students.

People do not need to take any action during the drill, but they are encouraged to make plans to protect themselves and their families before storms develop.  Don’t wait until the storm is headed toward you as there won’t be time.  Information about storm safety is available from county emergency management offices or visit the following web sites:
