Update 10/16/2023: All records are again available.

Update 10/11/2023: The Register of Deeds is now able to issues vital records (Birth, Marriage and Death).  There is still limited land records searches until Friday.

Original Post: The Fall River County Register of Deeds is unable to issue certified copies of Birth, Marriage and Death records at this time. Certified vital records can be requested at any South Dakota county register of deeds.  Fall River County can currently issue Marriage Licenses.

Fall Landowner Map Book Published

The Fall River County landowner map book has been updated for ownership changes through September 2023. Pages can be viewed and printed online. Bound copies are available from the Director of Equalization‘s office for $20.

Employment Opportunity: 911 Dispatcher

911 Dispatcher: Fall River County Sheriffs Office is accepting applications for a full time 911 Dispatchers. The starting wage: $18.50/hour uncertified or $20.50 – $21.50/hour certified (DOE) Shifts are day, evening and overnight, and include weekends and holidays. Benefits include paid health, vision and dental insurance; vacation, sick and personal leave and South Dakota State Retirement.

The position involves substantial public contact, receiving incoming radio and phone calls, and entering information into the computer aided dispatch system.  Individuals must be able to multi task with accurate typing (35 words per minute) and computer skills. This facility handles multiple calls from different agencies which will need dispatched out simultaneously. Applicant must be able to remain calm and maintain composure and treat people with respect even under pressure in stressful situations. Individual must possess the ability to consistently think clearly; act quickly; and calmly in a wide variety of situations.

The position requires SD State Certification for radio dispatching. The training, completed in Pierre, SD will be provided to successful applicants.  Position requires a medical physical (UA and hearing test), fingerprinting and background check. Weather Forecast Zone Changes

The NWS Weather Forecast Office in Rapid City is making some changes to the Public Weather Forecast zones in our area. The purpose of these changes is to provide more accurate headlines for winter and non-precipitation hazards. These changes will go into effect September 19th.
