Temporary Employment

Field Worker: Fall River County Director of Equalization is seeking applications for a part-time seasonal field worker to assist Assessors in property inspections and data collection. Work duties include: reading maps, driving assessor around on designated routes, keeping vehicles fueled and clean, assisting with measuring buildings, taking photos of buildings. Must be able to work in all weather and conditions, physically able to walk over a mile in uneven terrain. Must have valid Driver’s License.  Positions is part-time, most work is between 9am and 3pm, Monday to Friday. Position needed through end of October. Schedule can be somewhat flexible. $12/hr, no benefits. This position may become a recurring seasonal position. Open until filled

Administrative Assistant: The Fall River County Director of Equalization’s Office is accepting applications for a full time Administrative Assistant.  Duties include assisting the public on the phone and in person, data entry, correspondence and mailings, filing, and other duties as assigned.  Starting wages are $12-$14/hour depending on experience. Benefits include paid health, vision and dental insurance; vacation, sick and personal leave and South Dakota State Retirement.

911 Dispatcher: Fall River County Sheriffs Office is accepting applications for a full time 911 Dispatchers. The starting wage: $16.00/hour. Shifts are day, evening and overnight, and include weekends and holidays. Benefits include paid health, vision and dental insurance; vacation, sick and personal leave and South Dakota State Retirement.

The position involves substantial public contact, receiving incoming radio and phone calls, and entering information into the computer aided dispatch system.  Individuals must be able to multi task with accurate typing (35 words per minute) and computer skills. This facility handles multiple calls from different agencies which will need dispatched out simultaneously. Applicant must be able to remain calm and maintain composure and treat people with respect even under pressure in stressful situations. Individual must possess the ability to consistently think clearly; act quickly; and calmly in a wide variety of situations.

The position requires SD State Certification for radio dispatching. Jailer/Correctional Officer: The Fall River County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for correctional officers. Ideal applicants are those with good moral character, in good physical condition and who are interested in serving their community as a member of the Fall River County Sheriff’s Office Team.  Correctional officers, upon hire, undergo on-going training courses along with on-the-job training to prepare them to supervise inmates.

Starting wage: $16.50/hour. Shifts are day, evening and overnight, and include weekends and holidays.
