Land Notification – Protect Your Real Estate

land notification

The Fall River County Register of Deeds now offers Land Notification, a free alert system that allows you to monitor a specific name or parcel of land for real estate activity in participating South Dakota counties. Each time there is recording activity on a specific name, you will receive an email and/or text message notification. You can create one or more alerts.

Mortgage and real estate fraud is a growing crime in our society. It can occur when someone illegally uses your name on records related to your property for financial gain or acquisition of your assets. If this happens and you have signed up, you will be alerted and able to contact authorities.

While Land Notification does not prevent fraud, it provides an early warning system for property owners to take appropriate action should they determine possible fraudulent activity has taken place. This service is free and easy to sign up.

You can sign up or log in here:
https://southdakota.landnotification.com/LandNotification/#/

New users should click on the “New User” link on the Land Notification home page and provide a valid email address to activate your account. If you do not have an email address, you may contact the Register of Deeds Office to assist in setting up your account. Please use a unique password for all accounts, as reusing passwords over multiple accounts increases your chances of being hacked.

Please direct any questions to me or my staff at the Register of Deeds Office if you have issues signing up. See our land notification page for Frequently Asked Questions.
