Notice to Bidders – Air Handler Unit

Notice is hereby given that the Fall River Board of County Commissioners will receive sealed bids for a Air Handler Unit for the County Jail. Bid specifications are available at the Fall River County Auditor’s office, or on the county website at fallriver.sdcounties.org.

The name and address of the bidder and ‘Sealed Bid for Air Handler Unit’ shall be plainly marked in the upper left hand corner of the envelope containing the bid. Bids will be received at the Auditor’s Office, 906 N. River Street, Hot Springs, SD 57747, until 10:30 am on Tuesday, August 16, 2016.

The Fall River Board of County Commissioners will open bids at their regular meeting on August 16, 2016 at 10:50 am, and all firm bids will be considered. The Fall River Board of Commissioners reserves the right to consider the bids at their convenience and to reject any or all bids or waive any informality and to accept the bid that is advantageous and is in the best interest of Fall River County.

Notice for Bidders – Belly-dump Trailer

Notice is hereby given by the Fall River County Commissioners that sealed bids shall be received at the office of the Fall River County Auditor, 906 North River Street, Hot Springs, SD 57747, on or before 10:00 A.M., August 16, 2016, at which time bids will be opened and publicly read for the purchase of one (1) unit, and the option for a second unit purchase:

New 42’ Triple axle, lift able third axle, Switch control, Tarp, Belly-dump trailer

Specifications may be obtained from the Fall River County Auditor or the Fall River County Highway Department, 27518 Cascade Road, Hot Springs, SD 57747.

Bids must be submitted on forms furnished by Fall River County.

All bids must be F.O.B. Hot Springs, South Dakota.

All bids must be marked plainly on the outside of envelope “Bid for belly-dump trailer”.

None other than a firm bid will be accepted, and the Board of Commissioners reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to accept a bid other than the lowest, if it seems advisable to said Board.

Fire – Landowner Assistance

Landowners affected by the Indian Canyon Fire should seek assistance from the Farm Service Agency (FSA) at 605-745-5716 ext #2.  Acreage losses for individual landowners have been calculated and the FSA can assist in filing claims.  Below is a list of potential eligible programs available to producers affected by fire:

NAP (Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program) – A notice of loss needs to be filed within 15 days for grazing and hay. The grazing loss will likely be determined in October/November, after the end of the 2016 grazing period. A loss adjuster will need to inspect the hay acres.

ELAP (Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees and Farm-Raised Fish Program) – An application for assistance could be completed for the following within 30 days:

  • Bales or feed lost, including purchased or produced feed
  • If you lost grazing days due to the fire, we will need your total number of livestock as of the day of the fire. At the time of application for payment, we will need further documentation including grazing days lost per pasture and head grazed per pasture.
  • Livestock death losses (may be eligible through the LIP program)

LFP (Livestock Forage Disaster Program) –Loss of grazing days on federal land. Application deadline is January 30, 2017.

  • We will need documentation from the forest service showing the loss of grazing.

ECP (Emergency Conservation Program) – Sign up period to be tentatively set at Thursday’s County Committee meeting.

Fence

      • $1,000.00 minimum cost before cost share can be earned, including material, labor, and equipment
      • The fence damaged by the fire, will need to be replaced with all new supplies
      • Boundary and cross fences are eligible, including federal and state properties
      • Cost share is not allowed if you plan on stretching up fence or repairing with used material
      • The cost share rate is 75%, not to exceed $1.28/foot
      • The fence must be built to NRCS specifications. We have copies of this available.

Debris removal

  • When you tear out fence, please keep track of hours of personal or hired labor and type of equipment and equipment hours (to pull out, roll up, and haul away)

Conservation Structures

  • Fire damaged water tanks, wells, solar panels, etc.

Site inspection will need to be completed prior to starting the ECP projects and after completion.

 

Employment Opportunity – 911 Dispatcher

911 Dispatcher: Fall River County Sheriffs Office is accepting applications for a full time 911 Dispatchers. The starting wage: $12.00/hour. Shifts are day, evening and overnight, and include weekends and holidays. Benefits include paid health, vision and dental insurance; vacation, sick and personal leave and South Dakota State Retirement.

The position involves substantial public contact, receiving incoming radio and phone calls, and entering information into the computer aided dispatch system.  Individuals must be able to multi task with accurate typing (35 words per minute) and computer skills. This facility handles multiple calls from different agencies which will need dispatched out simultaneously. Applicant must be able to remain calm and maintain composure and treat people with respect even under pressure in stressful situations. Individual must possess the ability to consistently think clearly; act quickly; and calmly in a wide variety of situations.

The position requires SD State Certification for radio dispatching. The training, completed in Pierre, SD will be provided to successful applicants.  Position requires a medical physical (UA and hearing test), fingerprinting and background check.
